Movies / Star Wars - The Emperor's New Clones'
This weekend, some of the TENCLO cast travelled to Cardiff to see it screened at the Chapter Arts Centre, where it was given a rapturous welcome by staff and audience alike.

Being the home of Dr Who and Torchwood, Cardiff is no stranger to science fiction. But this weekend, it saw Backyard Productions’ own spin on the genre, and from the response, it wasn’t quite what they were expecting.
The Chapter Arts Centre showed its modern image was more than just a lick of paint by screening The Emperor’s New Clones as part of their Fan-Tasia season. Many of the cast had driven for hours to see it on the silver screen again, and nervously awaited the response. Luckily for them it was laughter all round from the opening crawl to the end credits. Those that hadn’t seen it before were impressed by the visual effects and original humour.
Afterwards, Darren answered questions on the film regarding matters such as time and costs. Then, before settling down to drinks at the famous bar, the guests were ushered into another cinema. Some youngsters had started playing Lego Star Wars on the big screen! It was surreal, but maybe it will inspire them too.
Backyard Productions thanks Steve Sullivan and everyone at the Chapter Arts Centre for showing such enthusiasm for its work.

Get your popcorn ready… Backyard Productions’ biggest Star Wars film is showing on the big screen again, at the Chapter Art Centre, Cardiff on 14 November 2009.

Firstly, please excuse the technical nature of this post. If you are familiar with bittorrent, DVD images and DVD burning, read on…. if not – no worries!!
I’ve been aware for a while now that although we’ve offered TENCLO as a DVD image download through bittorrent, this has been an .NRG file, which not everyone is able to burn, as it it a Nero specific DVD image. Probably because we were so keen to make the DVD image available, we used the first DVD image ‘creator’ that came to hand, even if this is not the most compatible.
I also had an email from a very helpful chap called Dan Floyd, who offered to host an image of the TENCLO DVD through his website at http://www.kuatengineer.webs.com/ On reflection, and Dan’s prompting, it seems far more preferable to use an .ISO image for the DVD which should be burnable by just about anyone as it is not platform or software specific.
So the DVD is now available to download in a number of ways. Pick the one that best suits your needs. If you are a bittorrent user on Macintosh or Windows, and if you are willing to help seed the DVD image, then please use one of our bittorrent links: either the TENCLO DVD IMAGE (.NRG) or the TENCLO DVD IMAGE (.ISO). Alternatively, if your upstream bandwidth is limited or capped and you’d rather go for a straight download of a TENCLO DVD .ISO, then please head on over to Dan’s site at http://www.kuatengineer.webs.com/
Not only does Dan offer TENCLO for download as a DVD image, but you can also get a DVD image of TESBY from his site too. I’d like to express our sincere gratitude to Dan for the use of his bandwidth and publicity, and, of course, for his efforts in promoting and preserving many other great Star Wars Fanfilms.
I’d also like to point out that as the ISO torrent is fairly new, there are quite a lot of seeders at the moment, so now is the time to take the plunge and download it – keep the swarm going!

60 minute fly-on-the-wall documentary, covering the ENTIRE 18-month production of the fanfilm parody Star Wars The Emperor’s New Clones filmed in 2005. A great feature for any fanfilm maker to watch! www.backyardproductions.co.uk
The full TENCLO movie, in all its glorious completeness. Enjoy!
In the great tradition of the Star Wars prequels, Backyard Productions has produced its own ‘Battle of the Heroes’ music video, showing making of documentary clips, as well as previously unreleased footage from the film itself. The video can be seen on YouTube here.
A 60 minute, real documentary of the making of TENCLO has been completed and uploaded to YouTube for your viewing pleasure! Please take a few (well, 60) moments to check it out!
It follows the entire ordeal, from building sets, filming, drawing lightsabres and finally the night of the premiere…
As with all big movies, it is normal practice to bring the cast and crew together again to shoot extra scenes or re-shoot things that did not come out as planned during principal photography. Well TENCLO is no different and in November 2005, the team returned to Lincoln for a weekend of filming and sound work. [Read more]
The main filming, or ‘principal photography’ for The Emperor’s New Clones took place over a gruelling 16 day period, with activity on set from 7am until midnight every day. [Read more]
Many (but not all) of the TENCLO sets were built over the period from May to August 2005. Some had to be made in modular form, ready for quick assembly when other sets were struck. We were short of space, especially considering the number of sets we planned to use!
These frantic bursts of activity, mainly at weekends, were not just used for building sets… many costumes and props also had to be made. [Read more]
