Light Vents

These add both lighting and dimension to the set walls.

Staircase

At this mezzanine level, another light vent and the beginnings of an air vent can be seen.

Marking Out

When marking out the light vents, it was important they were straight.

Feeding Time

Once completed, they were able to be used to instil discipline on set!

Workstation

As you can see, nothing has been left to chance. Each design and each day has been carefully planned.

Lighting Baffles

Once the dedicated green screen lighting was in place, a baffle was fixed around it, to prevent any light leaking out.

Screen and Ship

Background: fully illuminated green screen. Right: a control panel. Foreground: the X-wing fighter set.

Ceiling Lights

These both disguise the lights that are there and give the set an authentic look.

Upper Platform

This shows the overall effect the overhead lighting has on the feel of the set. The light vents on the wall will be lit with similar intensity. Bubble wrap has been used to diffuse the light carefully arranged in a gap behind the set.

Luke's Friend

The head of this working model of R2-D2 comes off. This has been used in the X-wing set.
